About to buy 2019 Acadia toad - good idea?

We're about to pull the trigger on a new GMC Acadia (V6 Denali). It's listed on Remco as towable and the online owner's manual says it is. I had my RV dealer confirm with Roadmaster that the baseplate will work with the Adaptive Cruise Control. So I think it's a valid four-down towable toad.

We have a Winnebago Adventurer 27N with the Ford V10 gas engine. The GVWR is 18K lbs, the GCWR is 23K lbs, so that means I can tow up to 5K lbs, right? The Acadia is listed a just under 4K lbs.

I'm thinking this is a good setup, but I've never towed a toad before. Is it too close to the 5K lb limit?

Thanks!

Yes, it looks like you have a 5,000 lb hitch as well.

I just had my RV and toad/dolly weighed at a CAT scale and the car/dolly weighed in at 4,040 lbs. My GCWR - GVWR = 4,000 lbs with a 5,000 lb hitch. I'm about 700 lbs below GCWR so I'm a bit closer than you will be.

80% of the rating is something I'm comfortable with. Just remember to factor in the weight of fuel and junk you may decide to carry in the Acadia.

If your Adventurer is close to 18,000 lbs with its stuff, be aware that you're increasing the total weight by over 20%. Be certain to get a toad braking system installed.

I’m towing a 2019 Acadia with a 2017 SunStar 30T. No problems at all! Using a Roadmaster baseplate and Falcon 2 tow bar.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I don't know anything about that vehicle but noticed you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
