Welcome to the club. You are not the first nor will you be the last tho I think many would just as soon forget the mistake.
I pulled mine from Pigeon Forge down the Wears Valley highway for over 20 miles. The brake released on its own and the wheels turned. I caught it when we stopped to check out a store. When I started to leave the parking lot I felt the pull and saw the rear tires skidding before it released. Got out and released the PB and drove 600 miles. Still running great. Had brakes inspected but no problems.
Enjoy the learning curve - Richard

I once rolled a Jeep, 360° ... engine kept running and I just went on. They’re tough. Windshield was broken, my feelings were hurt, but it was over in a blink.
Hope all is well with yours!
It was a 1964 CJ3B.

Thanks to everyone's replies. So helpful! But guess what? I did not tow my Jeep Liberty with the brake on. I towed it in Park!! I was so upset, that I posted the wrong message. I very carefully released the Jeep from the Tow Bar and drove it gingerly around the block shifting it in the different drives and it seems to be OK. The one thing that is in my favor is the transfer case was in neutral. My jeep is an automatic. Again, thanks so much for all the info and I will take it to heart.

If your transfer case was in neutral the transmission should be in park.

Chalk is too soft. You need a chock instead.

When you say: If your transfer case was in neutral the transmission should be in park. I'm assuming transmission in park is a good thing and what we want when towing. Thx so much!!

Correct, check your towing instructions. If you don't have a printed manual you can download one from the manufacturer's site.

Ours got accidentally towed for 8 miles with it on. It will worked fine after. I called my local Jeep shop an old they said they will check it out at next service.

Did it once, right in front of our house, slowly pulling away to start a trip. Honda CR-V was in neutral, but I had left the parking brake on while hooking up, because our street has a slight downhill slope. Listening for the tow-bar locks to lock in, we heard a different louder noise of tires screeching on asphalt. Only went about 5 feet, no damage, just rubber marks on the pavement. Now, I use my checklist. Always set the P-brake, even if not needed. Last 3 steps are: Switch off engine and leave in ACC; Release P-brake;turn on aux braking system.
