ACME Dolly, second catastrophic failure

Took the dolly out for it’s third trip. On its first trip, the entire braking system in the front of the trailer broke apart, and luckily a marina local to where we were staying was able to repair it under warranty. This was its first trip, about 1000 miles.

Took it out for a third time a couple of weeks ago, and the brake pads on the passenger side completely disintegrated, and one of the slide pins is now bent.

I’m not sure that I can recommend this product to anyone based on my own personal experience. We’ve only got between 2000-3000 miles on the trailer at this point.

Went to put new brake pads on, and noticed they wouldn’t fit. Then I noticed this. It looks like maybe the caliper mounting bracket was over torqued at the factory?

Is that a crack at that one hole?

What did the company say when you contacted them?

How far out of warranty is it? They might still cover it.

Haven’t contacted them yet, gonna send out an email tonight. It’s got a 10 year warranty, only have had it a couple years.

ACME Dolly, second catastrophic failure

I would also contact UFP, as I believe the axle is bought as an assembly by ACME. UFP sent me rebuild kit when I had an axle issue under warranty. I would also talk to UFP about new seals, pads, caliper rebuild kit, etc. That much heat wouldn’t have gone unnoticed in the soft parts.
