My mistake. It has 2 fans, one driven off of the fan belt with a clutch and one electric that is on all of the time when the AC is on. I will check the fan clutch on the main fan to make sure it works but I think it does because the water temp is steady.

I made an insulating pad from 2 layers of silver reflective stuff and put it in the ceiling. It helped. I couldn't easily do the back though without using contact cement. I may do that.

We were out in the desert climbing the foothils of the mountains to the NE of Pahrump. We crossed a huge dry wash/canyon and got right up to the sheer sides of the mountain. There were Jackrabbits, roadrunners and loads of donkey or horse poo everywhere. Fine ride.

Climbing like that in 103f we rarely got to 2000rpm. It got hot in the car. It blew 30f loser than the intake temp which was just not enough. When we lowered the windows which actually let in cooler air the vents blew cooler. 30f below the intake temp. On the way down at higher speeds and on the road back it was tolerable with the new insulation.

Sure sounds like a fan relay or something is causing an overheating failure and shutting off the condenser. You said the ac is spinning but can you hear the clutch engage?

Yes. Clutch is working properly and the fan spins.
