Anybody use this rock deflector from NSA?

I have an NSA tow bar system and am looking for a rock deflector.

This is the one they sell:

We have the Protect-A-Tow, which looks like the exact same product in your picture. It does a great job. Be sure to follow the instructions on which length to order.

Thanks Cessnapilot that brand is also cheaper.

I have to check the exhaust pipe clearance issue first.

I'm using one of these held in place over the nose of our Wrangler with 4 HD bungee cords hooked through the eyelet/grommets that are placed every foot along the perimeter of the mesh cargo tarp. Fold it in half to make it a 4' height, top to bottom along the 8 foot axis to double the thickness, and place it across the front of the Jeep from just above the tow bar knuckles up over the hood. It covers the entire nose of the Jeep (protects the rad and lights) and allows you to drive it with the tarp/stone protection in place, because the lights are visible through the mesh tarp, but stones/debris can't get through. The plate is below the bumper line and is visible for legal reasons. I know, because I've driven it that way. $19.99 on sale plus tax plus the cost of the 4 bungee cords.

If you have a full width mudflap get rid of it. I easily put individual mudflaps 3-4" from the ground behind each RV tire. No more rocks thrown at the car. Even a shield won't keep the towed clean.

This is by far the most effective type deflector. The only caveat is whether or not it conflicts with your exhaust pipe ... hot exhaust gasses blowing onto the fabric will destroy it in short order. One brand even tried kevlar shields in that area with no success.

I used one on our trip to Alaska and it worked well as we had no damage to the toad. However, the PVC pipe that rides on top of the towbar did take all of the paint off of our Ready Brute Elite on the wear points. Not a big deal since the towbar is aluminum but I was surprised by the damage.

Look likes that is the case.

Any ideas on other types?

I loosened and turned my tip when I installed the protect a tow. Big bonus I discovered is no dust storm from it pointing straight down .

I’m trying to decide whether I even need this. I have a Fleetwood Terra 31TS on a F53 chassis. The back wheels are at least 8’ forward of the hitch, with factory mud flaps covering the duals. In addition, there is a full width stone and debris brush type of guard hanging down to about 4” off the ground. I’m planning on towing my 97 Jeep TJ with an older Ready Brute Elite. I do have to use a drop hitch to keep the tow bar flat. Anyone else have experience with this?

That's the Protect-a-Tow shield. I didn't know NSA sold it.

I use that, along with a solid rubber flap on the back of the MH, and have never had a chip on the toad!

If I were starting over today I would try to make one of these work, but the exhaust would be a challenge. I am currently running a vertical shield tipped apx 12 degrees toward the MH. That protected me very well on a caravan through Canada & Alaska.

A full width guard only 4" above the ground is too low for me. I want mine 6-8" above the ground when the coach is at normal ride height.
