Anyone Dolly Towing a 2016 Kia Soul Automatic?

If so, does the ignition need to be in ACC and trans in Neutral? If yes, how do you negate getting a dead battery?

Alternatively, can you just put the car in park, remove key, and begin your trip?

First time tower here.

Thanks!

Can A Kia Soul Be Flat Towed?
The Kia Soul with manual transmission is flat-towable. You only need a baseplate, a tow bar, and a few accessories to get the car behind your motorhome. If you have a Kia Soul with an automatic transmission, you can tow it on a flat bed or install aftermarket parts to facilitate the towing.

You can check the user manual that comes with your car to see if you can flat-tow it. If the manufacturer doesn’t recommend flat towing your vehicle, you will damage transmission components if you try to dinghy tow it.

And this;

How to Tow Kia Soul with Automatic Transmission
Question:
I have read your comments on flat tow and you say on a soul manual transmission only. is their a drive shaft separator that is acceptable that would make an automatic flat towable

Since the Kia Soul with automatic transmission cannot be flat-towed with all wheels on the ground, your best option for towing your Soul is to use a towing dolly, such as the RoadMaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes, part # RM-2050-1. This product is adjustable to fit many vehicles, and includes electric trailer brakes, radial tires, adjustable wheel nets, tail/brake lights and a 6-way round trailer connector. Since the front wheels are kept off the ground there is no need to alter your vehicle by installation of base plates or disconnection of your drivetrain. Your car remains drivable at all times.

Use of a towing dolly does require an electric brake controller that mounts inside the towing vehicle and that activates the tow dolly brakes when the motor home brakes are applied. One of the most popular is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. You will also need a wiring kit, part # ETBC6. This kit includes everything needed to establish the 6-way wiring required to use a tow dolly behind your motor home.

I dolly towed my 2013 Kia Soul automatic for thousands of miles.

I drove it up, put it in park, took the key out, and strapped it down.
Unless you have the one dolly that requires the steering be unlocked, and the steering locks in 2016, you can do the same.

We dolly tow a 2018 Soul with an automatic. If we leave the key in the ignition after shutting it off the steering wheel remains unlocked. It locks when the key is removed and does not unlock when the key is inserted until it is turned.
