In my coach, the Freightliner chassis trailer plug, pin # 4 will have 12 volts when the engine is running. That 12 volt supply is protected by a relay and a 20 amp fuse, both located in one of the two black boxes in the next to last passenger side compartment. I just used the corresponding wire in my pigtail and connected that wire to the battery. I placed a 20 amp fuse at the battery connection incase a short would develop during times the toad was not connected to the coach.

Since that 12 volt supply is only active when the coach engine is running, electricity will flow towards the toad battery until the voltages equalize.

Chevy did a redesign on the Equinox for the 2018 and later model year. There is no longer a need to pull any fuses on a 2018 or later.

So my question is has anyone tried a battery disconnect switch?
I have a 2wd equinox 2019
Wrong. Following the Chevy procedure configures the car for towing. You need to follow their procedure or risk damage to the drivetrain, which will be on your credit card.

The Equinox draws almost 8 amps out of the battery when configured for towing. That's why a charge line of good quality, 12 gauge or larger wire for the charge line and for the ground line is mandatory.
