Anyone move from a Wrangler to a Cherokee Trail Hawk

Hi,

As much as I love my Wrangler I need something a bit more practical for long trips.

Anyone move from the Wrangler to a Cherokee Trail Hawk, and if so can you let me know how it went?

Thanks,

An aside; a 2017 Trailhawk is for sale on escapees.com already setup for 4-down towing.

We looked and looked. Wranglers everywhere and they hold their value. However, they are not comfortable. Kept coming back to the Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee was too big and many of the other options did not fit our use profile.

Purchased a 2022 Trailhawk and find it the perfect compromise. Wish it had all the nannies, but they were not available. We did hunt until we could find one equipped with the leather that includes power seat controls and lumbar support for the passenger seat. Much more comfortable. Highly recommended. The sunroof and navigation is a very nice to have option package. Used to try and avoid. No more. I'm sold.

Convinced the independent front and rear suspension is a big plus. We find no issue with a long drives and regularly use the vehicle for a daily driver.

No, we are not off roaders, but the trail hawk is capable if you are. Believe the rugged off-road suspension is capable of successfully dealing with Interstate bridge transitions and chuck-holes. So far, it is.

Tows quite well. Not hard to set up. The multiple steps to shift into neutral are logical and easy to follow. We were worried, but found no issue.

You can only get a black interior. It gets hot and does mark with dirt from your shoes. Takes a wipe with a wet rag to remove. Car had rubber mats, like Weathertech - a great help to keep the vehicle clean. Note - to get another interior color you have to find an older vehicle. (different trim level) with the options you want that has Active Drive II so you can tow it.

Install a charge line. Do not worry about the Death Wobble unless you buy a model older than 2019. Get a wiring harness for the tail lights that plug-in rather than requires splicing.

Baseplate is high enough that we use a receiver adapter to raise the towbar connection up to level. That also extends to towbar a bit for more turning clearance, but does require the use of two anti-rattle clamps.

The only regret is that it is not a Plug in hybrid. However, I'm too old to really take advantage of that capability (Poor adaptability). The familiar is safer and the transition is easier to assimilate.

Good luck with your decision.

You are aware, are you not, the the Trailhawk is an option package available on 4 Jeep models: Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Compass, and Renegade?

Similarly, the Rubicon is an option package available on both the Wrangler and the Gladiator.

I recently changed my toad to a used '17 Cherokee TH. Fully set up with Blue Ox and Invisibrake. Has the "death wabble" wiring done along with a permanent setup with the Invisibrake. I was concerned with all the negative comments with Cherokee toads but felt confortable after I looked at it as it was already pre set up. The private party I bought from had all paperwork and service records. After confirming all setup connections were proper, I set off on a few journeys, with no issues at all. After aprox 5k miles towing, it has been awesome! (Hope I didn't jinx myself) It tows super easy and using it as I drive ariound and explore has been great, comfortable and enjloyable.
Good luck and enjoy the road!
