Anyone Towing a 2019 Mini Cooper S?
Hey all...
Getting everything lined up for towing a 2019 Mini Cooper S, FWD, 6 Speed Manual Transmission.
Anyone done that yet or will I be the guinea pig!?

Is there a base plate available? Does the owner's manual say it can be recreationally towed? Those would be important steps to check.

Yes on the Baseplate. And to my knowledge Mini never says anything in their manuals about towing; however, it has been done regularly by many others.
Hence my original post since most information about towing a Mini is from those who do already.

I towed a 2007 6 speed Mini S for thousands of miles. No problems what so ever!

Finally a similar enthuastist!
I’ve been researching towabity of a 2019 Mini Cooper 4-door hardtop, either “s” or non “S” with manual transmission. I’m planning on ordering one...depending
Needs to be a manual transmission
It seems that since 2016 the owners manual has had a warning stating when towed <30 mpg and <30 miles.
I’ve seen several newer Mini’s being towed 4 down.
Remco stopped having Mini as a manufacture selection in their drop down menus for the 2018 year.
Prior years state all Cooper FWD 1.5/2.0L 6 speed manual are towable as is without speed/distance restrictions. See owner’s manual...
Blueox.com shows compatibility for 2015-2019 Cooper’s BX1312 baseplate; BX7365 Tow Bar and BX 8848 wiring
E-trailer shows the same part #’s
All of em use Remco as a go to for “towability” and it notes that they have not had any reported issues. Blueox.com said the same when I called today.
Your thoughts? Have you decided on going this route? Do you have any additional info to share?

Forgot to ask what supplemental braking system will you be using?
I’ve pretty much decided on the Duo Stay-N-Play since this will be my car for some time to come��.

I have a friend who tows his Cooper 4 down all over the country. I don't know the particular model but it's a 2 door convertible with manual transmission. I think it's a John Cooper if that makes sense. He had a shop install all the needed equipment including the brake system. I could get details if it would be helpful.

Thanks for the response. If you can get the details that would be great. I don’t think it matters if it is a 2 or 4 door, or a convertible they use the BX1312 baseplate for years ‘15-‘19.

Sorry it took so long and I don't know if I found out anything useful.
He tows a 2018 Mini Cooper S convertible with a manual transmission. He's not sure what kind of base plates were installed but he does have an Air Force One toad brake system. All he does is put the transmission in neutral, release the E brake, turn off the ignition and remove the key.
He had everything installed at Camping World in Spartanburg, SC. That's about all he knows. He's not real mechanically inclined but has towed it for several thousand miles with no issues.

No worries on the delay. You’ve provided very useful information.
It’s good to know that it’s a late model and that there have been no problems.
I don’t have air brakes but will use the hydraulic solution which is the SMI Duo Stay-n-Play.
I got my quote today on my ‘19 Cooper “S” 4-door with manual transmission. I’ll be putting the deposits down the first of next week, then wait for it to be delivered, so I’m a bit excited ��

Anyone Towing a 2019 Mini Cooper S?
Friends of ours tow their mini 4 down with no issues.
We looked but wanted Toad with a warranty and what we got from dealers was not supported so any issues they could say our fault for towing that way.
Many on the road being towed 4 down but since not manufacturer supported we went another way.
Another for the stay and play. Had it installed since we will be towing the car for a long time as it is new. Nice setup and just flip on to tow.
One thing our installer did was run the light for Toad brakes activated up to the dash of the coach. Much easier to see than thru backup camera on dash of Toad.

I am interested in knowing if you have towed the 2019 mini cooper S and if everything went well. We are also hoping to tow the mini, considering AWD version too. Any feedback will be appreciated.
