Battery disconnect OK for Jeep Wrangler JK?
It's kind of a pain to pull the fuses, and I'm afraid someday I'm going to break something in the fuse box (they are HARD to pull). Any reason I can't use a neg battery disconnect? TIA

Battery disconnect OK for Jeep Wrangler JK?
If it is like my 2007 JK disconnect is required as the steering wheel locks. So have to leave key and in the first position to unlock wheel.
I used the knife switch type. Ran a dedicated ground for the break away solenoid.

If your key has a chip go have one made that doesn't. You can unlock the steering but no one will be able to start the Jeep. The disconnect that palehorse showed is the same one I used on my Jeep, worked great!

Mike, there are several companies that make a fuse extension with a switch on the end. You just replace the fuse with the extension and turn it on and off with the switch. These switches are very simple to make, but the key part, the dummy fuse insert, costs almost $40.00 for something that should be $5.00. This is why these things are expensive.
Here is a guy a friend just discovered on the back of the FMCA magazine. He makes the disconnects and will even configure them to how many fuses you have.

just install a marine disconnect switch from acamedy, get a blank key made(no chip)
you do this so the odometer will not register miles while you are towing..

Thanks everyone! Yep, I have an 08 with a steering wheel lock. I do have a blank, non-chip key that I use. I'll pick up a neg battery disconnect before we head out in a little over a week.
