Big toad small MH

We are downsizing from a 40 ft DP and looking for a small class A. Considering the Thor Axis/Vegas and wondering about towing our Ford Explorer.
Anyone out there with experience along these lines?

Re-think the whole idea of getting a Thor. They have zero quality and they only warranty them against water intrusion for 90 days. It took me a whole year to work out the bugs in my 2018 Hurricane. I would suggest you take a gander at Lots of complaints to go along with the folks that like their coaches.

How much does your Ford Explorer weigh?

I pull a 4,000 toad with my class A Workhorse 8.1 engine and do OK with that weight.

Axis/Vegas is built on the E series stripped chassis. A new one would have Ford's new V8 (Godzilla), and most (all?) older ones would have the V10. Plenty of power and a good powertrain. The 24.1 is sometimes on the 350 chassis, and may have more limited GCWR, so you'd want to check that. Assuming it fits within the GCWR, they shouldn't have trouble pulling an Explorer.

On the Thor forums, most owners are pretty happy with their Axis/Vegas. For many markets, Thor is a low-cost producer (relative to the competition), and as such, one can be expected to fix a few, mostly minor, things with a new unit. If buying new, do a very thorough PDI. I expected to have to fix some things with mine, but ended up having almost no problems at all. I had the dealer fix a rattle from the furnace during PDI, and that's it. I'm very happy with it. (Mine is a Four Winds, not an Axis/Vegas.)

It will tow it just fine. our 2018 25.3 axis has 3050lb of payload (not that you could ever put that much in it lol). It is rated to tow 8000lb. our 4 door jeep with 37" tires weigh 5600lb we have towed it over 20k miles.
