We have the bike rack that fits on the bar in front of our Blue OX, have towed the Cavalier 55,000 miles with out a problem. We have a rear bike rack on the van.

I have not been able to resolve the situation with my current bike rack that I just purchased less than six months ago. They are not cheap. My biggest concern is adding more tongue weight to the receiver (rated at 350#s) therefore I think I am going to scrap the plan to add an over/under dual receiver. Towing safety is my primary concern. I think my only alternative is to add a receiver to the front of the MH and mount the bikes up front. I don't know if I will want to ride the bike after I drive through a bug storm! LOL.

I don't know if there is a receiver hitch for a Saturn. But if there is I'd go that route. It's nice to carry the bikes on the dingy, as once you get to campground you can still take the bikes with the car on day trips.

Big Red, I realize were talking about spending yet "more" money here, but even if your Saturn is a passenger car, they make some real sturdy "trunk/bumper" mount bike racks.
The frame rests on the trunk with rubber capped arms and the straps hook in the trunk lip and under the bumper.
Certainly not the "prettiest" alternative, but it'd be something I'd consider before mounting them on the front, especially given you'd have to add another receiver up there.

Just trying to figure out something that'd work and not break the bank...

I think I'd personally go a long way trying something,BEFORE I'd look at those bikes all day going down the road...

Have you considered hanging your bikes from the rear roof ladder???

Go here to Hitch Selector to see if a 1 1/4" receiver hitch is available for your Saturn. If your present bike carrier is for a 2" receiver you can buy an adapter to convert it to 1 1/4". Much better IMO than a front mount.

I have not considered hanging the bikes from the bike rack as they are heavy mountain bikes and it would be difficult to lift them up. Turns out my son has a trunk/bumper mount three bike rack. I will try it out to see if it fits. If it does, I will need to do some negotiating to see what I can work out.

I picked up the bike rack from Blue Ox. The unit has an option for a tube that fits over the hitch bar. It did require me to get a longer hitch bar for my towbars from the manufacturer of the towbar. This has worked fine to support the bikes at the back of the motorhome without reducing the tow capability.
