Blue Ox Compatibility

I just bought a Blue Ox towbar system. All cables, chains, brake system. I just got a 2020 Ford Edge (a gift from my mother in law). I was hoping to have a Blue Ox baseplate installed but found out from Ford that this vehicle, which is automatic and All wheel drive, cannot be flat towed. My question is, if I buy a vehicle that already has a baseplate made by a different company, roadmaster etc... will I be able to connect it to my Blue Ox towbar.

Probably yes. I have a Blue Ox towbar system, but the baseplates on the two vehicles I tow (not at the same time) have Demco baseplates, and I was able to get adapters from Demco to work with the Blue Ox towbar, although, getting the adapters for the Demco baseplate on our Jeep was a challenge.

I've never used adapters for disparate equipment but the two most ubiquitous manufacturers, Roadmaster and Blue Ox both have adapter kits. Again, I haven't used them but hopefully you'll have people chime in that have or have better suggestions.

The Blue Ox appears to be a lot more expensive:

Contact your baseplate company, my jeep wrangler DEMCO baseplate fit my Blue Ox Ascent without adapters. I imagine others require adapters.

Probably yes, we bought a Toyota Yaris already equipped for flat towing last summer with a Roadmaster Base plate, and we had a Blue Ox Tow bar, and were able to get a Roadmaster to Blue Ox adapter Cross bar which had Blue Ox connectors. Another alternative might have been to get a Roadmaster tow bar connector, but that would not have worked well for us as we have another TOAD with a Blue Ox base plate.
