Blue Ox Patriot issue

I have a break buddy for in my jeep when I got it it worked fine but after the fourth use it started to act up. It only acts up when going down a grade ( hill) when I leaved home to access the highway I have to go down a steep grade and come to a stop, while at the light waiting the unit errors out and so I have to pull off the road and reset the unit, the last time it did it going down a grade in the mountains. Called the company that makes it and they said turn the "gain" down to a lower number well I did that and still same issue, my normal gain is 3 and I have turned it the whole way to 0 and still having issue, other than this issue the thing works great, just can't figure out how to make it not error out. Any help will be great.

I don't know how the brake buddy system gets it's signal to activate the toad brakes , but many Freightliner Chassis vehicles activate the brake lights when the exhaust brake is active. Having the extra time with the brake lights on may be the factor that causes the controller to time out.
Rather long post on which chassis have the function and there is no clear answer and most times the only way to be sure is to have someone follow you while communicating to tell them when the exhaust brake is active and they tell you if the lights are on.
Simple diode installation, is the fix,and I know of one brand of toad brake that recommends it.
US Gear , if memory serves.
OK just back from reading the brake buddy manual , looks like this should not be your problem.
Something from the troubleshooting manual , made me scratch my head , did you by any chance add a toad battery charge circuit, I'll have to re-read the comment about interference through the charge circuit.

I have a charge circuit installed that was done prior to the break buddy, I also in hooked it this last trip and still no difference. Mine is a wireless control that is mounted on the dash of MH and the box that goes in the jeeps front floor, the exhaust break does not activate it, the activation is done by proportion to the stop of the MH. So my best guess kinda like a serge break.

I have been looking into all the toad systems because, although my home province does not require toad braking because of the toad's weight; but every state I tow through does. Time for me to upgrade.
I had heard of some problems with the wireless brake systems interfering with other units in MHs traveling in convoy on the Alaska Highway. So I've been leaning towards wired or air activated systems.
When you say you also have the Blue Ox Patriot system, do you mean you have two different toad brake systems ; or that you used a generic name ( brake buddy ) when you posted.

Because of the confusion, with the names, maybe a new post with the correct system name will get you more help.

I don't think you can re-name the post at this point.

In the manual for your Blue Ox Patriot it says that it shuts down if the brakes have been applied for a length of time. I wonder if you exceeded this time sitting at the stoplight on the hill? Do you see an error code '8'? That's the time-out error code.

On my brake system, it is emphasized that it must be level to work properly. It has to be installed on level ground and then when plugged in it sets that as 'level.' I scanned the Blue Ox Patriot manual and see nothing that addresses setting level. I notice that the blinking error code for not level is not used. If it's sitting out of level it also might trigger brakes too soon on incline.
