Blue Ox spherical ball in socket

Curious. I tried searching the internet, but it seems to be a big secret!

Does anyone know why Blue Ox discontinued this design? They have gone back to the standard pivot on all their tow bars. I have read about failures of both designs, other manufacturers included, mostly due to improper set up, lack of maintenance, and tow bar angle.

I own a 10,000# Aventa LX towing a 4000# Jeep.
I'm hoping someone can share any information they have, or experiences, good or bad, with their towbars.

I also have the socket style Blue Ox tow bar pulling our 6400# Avalanche with no problems. I just serviced it myself and feel it's as good as new. Not sure why they went back to the old style. I also had one of those before this one. Both have performed as designed for me.
