BlueOx Patriot Wireless Dropouts

Hello to all,

I have a30' Class A coach and towing a Ford Focus setup with an older Blue Ox Patriot Brake system BRK2012. It is about 5 years old. Whenever I am towing the controller in the coach keeps disconnecting briefly and then reconnecting to the brake unit in the car. The resulting warning beep is very aggravating.

When I first bought this unit I thought Blue Ox offered some kind of range extender but I can't find anything. Does anyone know of a range extender or a way to make the wireless connection between the coach and the car more reliable?

Thanks for any help.

We have the same setup with a 40ft coach. Surprised your having trouble with a 30ft unit. Maybe your in car unit is temporarily losing power. I had to replace the 12v outlet on ours because the brake unit was losing power going down the road. Sorry canít help on the extender, didnít know they offered one.

I have a 2012 and we have the same problem. I called Blue Ox and they didn't have a solution. Except to buy their newer unit that has a stronger signal.

I would call customer support. It should not be doing that. I thinking you need some service??? But maybe there is a simple fix.

We have had the same problem since the first two. Back then it was a 24' Motorhome, then a 34' nd now 40'. All three were the same result. Loss of communication every 2-3 minutes. They do say to put it as close to the driver side window as possible, but that didn't help ours work any better. After the last 2000 mile trip and listening to it beep the entire time, I had enough. Spoke with customer support and they offered to have me send it back for a software update.

I declined and purchased an RVI3.

Thanks, that is my experience also. Had a 24' coach before this one and it did the same thing since I bought it. You can't even get to BlueOx support now. You are put on endless hold and then sent to a voice mailbox that says it is full and not accepting any more messages. I have opened my unit to replace the battery and maybe there is a way to add an external antenna. I am going to look into that avenue. I have had some bad experiences with this equipment. Live and learn I guess.
