Brake light issue

Can anyone tell me where to find the fuse for my trailer lights in a Newmar Canyon Star 2008 RV? I'm told it's a TRL-LR, but have no idea where it's located. It's not in the engine fuse panel or the bathroom, and if it's under the dash I can't get to it!

Welcome to the forum..

Is this a Ford V10 chassis?

HINT - put you Motor home type, chassis, toad, etc in your "Signature" line. To do that, go to the "User CP"

Look at the bottom of my post. for a sample

The Ford chassis manual is available online here. See pages 63-69. If your 2008 is built on a 2007 chassis, use this link instead.

Sorry- the left and right trailer turn/stop light relays share a fuse in the Ford fuse panel under the dash, #22. It's a 20A fuse.

Trailer park lamp relay is fuse #15 in the fuse box under the hood. It's a 20A fuse.

This assumes that Newmar uses the Ford signals. If they don't, or if they pass the signals through other fuses or relays, then ignore the above.

Brake light issue (cont)

But my husband pointed out that, if it's the fuse, both left and right lights would be out, wouldn't they? And it's only the left. It's so hard to get to those fuses, I just want to make sure that's it before I do! Thanks again for your help!

Yes. If only one side is out, then it's not likely the fuse is at fault. There are separate relays for each side, also in the Ford fuse box under the dash.

I would not start there, though, if it is so difficult to reach. It could be a disconnected wire inside the hitch connector. I'd take a voltmeter and work forwards (upstream) from the hitch connector. About three to five feet from the connector are two Ford connectors that contain the coach and trailer light signal wires. Hopefully, you'll find the problem in the hitch connector, though.
