Breakaway switch

I have a 2018 GMC Sierra Denali where do you mount your breakaway for towing? I have everything else already installed.

I don't think it really matters as long as it's a straight path with no sharp turns or anything that could restrict or bind the cable. Of course that depends on which breakaway system you have.

Break away CABLE should be attached to vehicle ......
not safety cables, not hitch etc
Break away cable needs to get pulled so pin comes out of the switch.

Cable can be attached to the receiver anchor holes were safety chains attach...but separate from chains

...guess the question is "towed" vehicle or "tow" vehicle???? Assume your pick-up is being "towed" so anywhere on the bumper is probably ok--just make sure it doesn't snag on any thing during normal operations. The problem with some smaller "towed" vehicles [eg SUVs and sedans] is that the vehicle's fame ends can fail so the baseplate and bumper separated from vehicle, so break-away switch stays intact and goes with the detached bumper--ooops!

It will be towed. The front has no openings so I guess I will need to cut a hole in the front plastic. I was just trying to figure out how to mount to without cutting a hole.

Thought you were going to be TWOING a trailer hence the post/photo

No factory 'tow hooks' on front??

Got a pic you could post what front end looks like all set up?

Agree--don't get the "cut a hole comment".....no bumper or grill?

I think it will be best to just cut a hole in the front about the same level as the hitch. The tow hooks that were on the truck from new came off to mount the towing bar so if I keep it all level it would probably be best. Some day if I trade it off I can just buy the plastic Crome piece and replace it if necessary. I would have a lot solider place to mount to. I was just looking for a different possibility.
Thanks
