Breakaway Switch..Check yours

Today I checked the Breakaway Sw. with the Ohm Meter, it was open.

Pulled from the toad to check on the bench, still open.

Dissected, the wires were spot-welded to the sprig contacts, once upon a time.
The welds had rusted and the wires were separated in the switch. The Breakaway would never of worked.
Do you ever pull the sw. cable to test? It was tested when installed and a few times since, but had been awhile. If you are prepping for the Spring trips be sure and check the Breakaway. New sw. and we are good to go. time

I test the braking system each time I hook up by pulling the breakaway switch pin.

X2 That's how I found my toad brake power control module had failed. My driveway is on a slope and before I hook up I start the toad pull the pin and put it in reverse. Surprise, it backed out into the street with the pin pulled and the vacuum pump running. Got to take the time to do the checks. Be safe.

Same here....just pull the pin and see if the brakes apply.

I had one that was acting up and occasionally applying my brakes when I went to restart the toad while driving it. It did it twice, so I tossed the switch and installed a new one.
