Can a 2007 2-wheel drive jeep commander be towed with 4 down?

Cannot be flat towed without modification. Needs a transmission lube pump installed.

I don't know. But I got the information from the Remco Towing website. They can sell you the necessary parts, and give you direction about installation.

Looks like they want $950 for the kit, and they say 6 hours installation time. Whether to do it yourself, or have a dealer do it would depend on your own mechanical proficiency and desire to take on the project.

There are a number of towing resources available to determine whether a vehicle can be towed 4-down [eg, Remco FMCA, etc]. Generally speaking, most two-wheel drive cars [stnd or auto tranny] can not be towed [front wheel drive cars are/can be an exception]. Problem is lubrication of the tranny while being pulled at hi=way speed over long distances. Without a lube pump or a way to disconnect the drive shaft, these trannies literally burn up. Accordingly, most 4-wheel drives with a mechanical transfer case can be towed, as can many AWD and front wheel drive vehicles.
