Can I flat tow a 1999 Buick Lesabre

I see Blu Ox sells a tow kit so I'm assuming I can flat tow it. But when I start assuming it seems like I get into a lot of trouble.

Good intuition.

2002 is the oldest year listed in the MotorHome Magazine: Making your RV travels easier
Motorhome Mag towing guide and it doesn't list any Buick. Maybe with a mod kit but that'll require some digging.

Good luck...

Rick

Dear captgadget my name is Rick and I am a gm technician, the answer to your question is NO you will damage the transmission Unless you have an auxilary trans fluid pump installed which runs off battery power from the tow vehicle, and supplies constant lubrication to the trans. I would suggest a tow dolly WITH electric or hyd surge brakes to be used with your rig to eleviate any braking issues, then you can tow other front wheel drive vehicles you may own,but all options have thier pros and cons.

Yes you can flat tow it. You will need a Remco LP1 lube pump that will keep the transmission fluid moving while you tow. We flat tow a 2003 LeSabre with the lube pump. We have over 25000 miles with no problems from the pump or transmission. Contact Remco towing for a base plate and lube pump.

Good to hear that Chuck & Mary are doing well with the 03 LeSabre toad. I'm towing a 2001 with a home-brew tranny pumping solution. Same idea/design as the Remco product, but I cobbled my lubrication solution together for under $300. This involves constructing a "manifold" to cut-in my pump when being towed.

Hi captgadget,
Yes, you can tow your vehicle with all 4 wheels on the ground. Go to
Application Charts | Remco Towing, enter the information and you'll get the solution. Remco is a good company. If you read about their products and give them a call you should end up comfortable using their products.
