Can JK Jeep flat tow? TJ Jeep? Toad ...

Looking at buying used 2008 jk jeep 4dr
Automatic
Can this be flat towed if 4wd? If I out transfer case in neutral?
Or out in a tow dolly safely! Don't want to burn up transmission....

Our other interest is manual tj jeep 2 door since it's shorter... We may flag tow or put on tow dolly with a gold cart platform on front..

I'd look in the manual but I haven't purchased yet... Getting to pull the trigger and have how to move around once parked...

Thks!

I don't know anything about the two wheel drive jeep but the four wheel one can be towed four down or in s trailer, no tow dolly for the four wheel drive one. Put the trans in park and the transfer case in nuteral and if it has a steering wheel lock it must be unlocked. Newer jeeps don't have a locking steering column but not sure about the 2008.

Depends on the tranny...
go look at the manual:
Jeep Owners | Download an Owners Manual 2004 - 2011 | Jeep

(their site is stupid when it comes to firefox, must use IE)

The JK will flat tow great. There was a change around 2008 when they did away with the locking steering wheel, so you will want to verify that yours does not lock. If it does lock like the TJ's, then you will have to leave the key in the ignition turned to the first, or unlock position, not accessory.

You can not dolly tow a 4wd Jeep, only flat tow or on a trailer. Yes, transfer case in neutral and transmission in park (automatic) or gear (manual).

I have towed both a TJ and now a JK over 25,000 miles and they tow great.
