Thru firewall wire routing
I poked a sharp awl through it, wodened it with philips screwdriver. Then dressed the wire so initically only pulling one of the duplex wires, ir used a 3’ piece of thinner pull wire that I over lap with the actual wire and wrap with good electrical tape (#33) for at least 12”. If your wire is really big might out a drop of liquid dish soap on the outside of electical tape to lower friction. Pull from the direction that minimizes how much distance you beed to pull. Always helps to have helper on otherside to keep any tangles, knots, or kinks from occuring. Slow and easy... don’t want to dislodge the grommet. In the engine area take care in the wire routing to make sure it is not against anything that coukd melt the wire insulation, and make sure it is well secured (tie-wraps, not electrical tape) so it stays put/ away from fan blades/ belts. Its a good idea actually to buy/ use appropriate sized flex spaghetti to give it better protection in the harsh environment under the hood. Its also good idea to wrap it with light color band of tape and lable it with permanent marker. If going to battery generiously separate the two wires and leave extra length to make it easy to add connectors work around battery area in future. I use Anchor (white jacket) for any outside wiring... sold at any marine store/ amazon. Unlike auto store copper wire, marine (Ancor) stranded wire is tinned (won’t turn green/ fail) and very flexible/ easy to route and design for harsh heat/ wet conditions.
