Chevy Spark Tow Question

Hello all! There was a thread on this before but I couldn’t respond because it was too old.

Here’s my dilemma. When I connect the auxiliary brake system to the car it runs down the battery. I looked at the manual and I have to have the key turned to ACC. I made sure everything was off. I thought I disconnected the negative cable but maybe I didn’t.

Any suggestions or videos?

I installed a charge wire from the coach to the toad to keep the battery from draining during trips.

My friend has a Spark and he disconnects the battery when towing. What does Chevy recommend for your Spark?

Most Chevy's require a battery disconnect.

It says to disconnect but when I do I don’t have power to the brake. Maybe I need a charge wire.

I also have a 2017 That I do not disconnect the Battery. If you can turn the steering wheel with the key out there is no need to disconnect battery as the computer does not function.sit in car and turn left & right if it will move left and right you are good to go. I have and others posted on irv2 in regards to this. I also use a Wireless Turn, brake and stop receiver and transmitter from Amazon. I mounted the Signal lights on inside back shelf by installing some steel plates for magnets (about 4 in square.} I talked to Dealer and don't know Why. I have towed about 4000 Miles with no problems what so ever. Hope this helps. The steering wheel does not lock on some sparks.

Thanks. I have done that and it seems to be okay. My issue is that I have the Blue Ox auxiliary brake system that eats up the battery when plugged in. The last time I was out I just didn’t hook it up and it was fine. Would love to figure out how to have both.

We purchased a 2021 Spark LT Manual Trans about 5 months ago and have towed about 3000 miles so far. I ran a charge wire from the coach and simply turn the key off and leave the trans in neutral. I have not as yet hooked up our Air Force One system as I haven't figured where to put the control box. That's this winters project. All in all it's a great little tow car and under 2400 lbs.
