8000# hitch

Gvwr of 24000
Gcwr of 30000 lb
But they put a 8000# hitch on
Just because they put an 8000# hitch doesn't mean its suppose to tow 8000#
30000-24000 is 6000 max towing capacity.
Am I looking at this the right way?

Yes. You are right, I think that they assume I will pack 2000# less gear to achieve that number safely. So my guess is it’s mechanically possible, but in reality I think it’s a stretch. I only tow our Jeep so I’m under 5k. Just showing everyone the numbers that would answer / solve the question posted.

I was just trying to get my head straight on what I needed. We have a lance 975 with gas F350 SWD and want to upgrade to either a bigger TC with a cummings dully that will allow us to pull a trailer with two 3wheelers that combined weight is about 5000lbs with a washer and dryer in trailer. So what do we buy(another truck and truck camper? or something like a Vesta) is where we are right now...I am just trying to sort it out....and the makers of these RV's make it hard to determine because of course every weight is different due to the options installed. But I need something that will haul over 5000 to be comfortable.
