Cooltech out of business???

Anybody know whats up with Cooltech? I installed they wiring harness in my 18 wrangler and got it all working with mh. Now I added a trailer hitch with a factory wiring harness and if i leave all plugged in neither work. If i just plug in the trailer wiring that works, if i just plug in MH wiring that works. I think I have to do something with the yellow wire but don't have instructions. I have emailed Cooltech, i have filled out their online form with no response over a week. I tried to email them last night and it got returned with no such address. Maybe someone here can send me inst. or tell me where to splice yellow wire.

Thanks

I have the factory tow harness in my 2018 and also use the CoolTech harness for towing but have never tried to connect both systems at the same time. My first thought is that both systems are working correctly for their intended purpose. May be wrong but here’s why.

The factory harness is intended to work with the jeep electric system and is apparently working correctly. The CoolTech harness isolates from the jeep electrical and receives power only from the Coach. Thus the reason for the Tow/Jeep switch. Tow; power from the coach. Jeep; power from Jeep. Have you tried flipping the switch to see what happens?

I’ll be interested to read some of the other comments.

Is your jeep a JL or JK? Just curious.

Pete, this is the second thread where you mention trying to contact Cool Tech and are not getting a response. I think there may be a problem on your side of email??? You can easily get Cool Tech technical support at cooltechllc@gmail.com That contact info and also a form is on Cool Tech's website under the "Contact" link. https://www.cooltechllc.com/contact-us

For your benefit, a pdf copy of the instructions is attached.

But additionally, I think I know what is causing your problem and I will explain in next post.

The order of the two harnesses (the OEM trailer harness and the Cool Tech Toad harness) is very important.

Working behind the left rear tail light (where the OEM connectors are located), you need to temporarily disconnect the Cool Tech harness as if you are removing it. Then, connect the OEM Trailer harness. AFTER installing the OEM Trailer harness, disconnect the plug that goes to the left rear light and plug it into the Cool Tech harness and then plug the remaining Cool Tech connector into the light.

In you initial install there was no need to connect the yellow wire as you did not have the OEM Trailer harness. So, you just have to make this one tap-in connection and you should be good to go.

Using your hand, you can feel the rear light harness as it drops down out of the cab of the Jeep into the area behind the left light. Feel along until you come to the first connector. This connector will have a yellow wire with a white stripe. Use a tap-in connector to tap the Cool Tech yellow wire to this wire.
