CRV Fuse Fix

So anyone who tows a CRV knows what kind of pain it is to pull the #19 and 20 fuses.
I looked at the commercially available fuse bypass switches and on board battery chargers and decided to make my own bypass switch.

However in rounding up the parts I came across this solution that does the same thing and cost me all of about $20 for both circuits.

I just pulled the fuses, plugged this extender in and zip tied to where it resides within reach. I still pull fuses but at least I’m not down on my knees and contorted.

At some point I may tie in a switch but if so this will still be a key component of that solution.

I like that. I ended up using an adaptor kit, which was pricey.

I like that fuse holder thing you found, though.

I don't tow a CRV, but an Equinox that also likes to have its fuse pulled.

Instead of the tribulations of fuse pulling and putting, I wired mine with a 12V SPST relay so that the fuse circuit is opened when the RV-to-Equinox umbilical is plugged in.

A charge line from the RV to the Equinox is also energized at that time.

The only time the umbilical is plugged in is when under tow.

It works great for me!

What did you use for the switch?

Here's a link to info on easily building a switch for the CRV.

https://www.crvownersclub.com/thread...ll-fuse.51441/

I followed these instructions back in 2017. At the time, I found the Valmar Model 31302 rocker switch for the dash at NAPA. It popped right into one of the spaces after removing the blank plate.

Well,
I turned into a pretzel to contort myself so I could pull that fuse in our '11 CRV JUST ONE TIME! I thought, nope, that's not gonna happen any more. So, I wired a 12V battery charge wire from the coach to the CRV's battery. From that point on, no dead battery, no fuse pulling, all was well for the few thousand miles and, about a year's worth of towing.

CRV Fuse Fix

Next time I’m at NAPA I’ll look for those switches that PandS suggested. In the meantime I decided I was too lazy to reach down and pull the fuses so I used some switches I had and a piece of bent sheet metal left over from another project. Click image for larger version
