Custom parts for old Roadmaster base plate?

Hi all - I'm searching for an older CR-V for a toad and one of the options is a one owner 2009 AWD with 98K miles. Its a nice car and already has an older Roadmaster base plate, with square receivers, but is missing the plug in parts. (also know as the weldments as per Roadmaster) Evidently Roadmaster used to make these to order but no longer does, and ETrailer suggests changing the base plate, which I'm not likely to do. I'm thinking my weld/machine shop could just make me something out of square 1.5" steel to plug in and adapt this to fit my blue-ox tow bar. Seems simple enough? Anybody tried this or am I missing something here?

I am guessing you already contacted Roadmaster. Back when I flat towed my 04 Wrangler, I was given a set of Roadmaster Jeep TJ frame mounts. I called Roadmaster and they sent me everything else that was needed. I can't believe all the stuff that was involved besides the 1.5" receiver inserts. Quick connect doo-dads, with an added crossbar. Seemed like overkill to me, with extra connection points, but it worked.
These days I flat tow a JK using the Currie tow bar mount and a Blue Ox tow bar. Simple two point connection from the tow bar to the Jeep.
I don't see why a good welder, that you trust, couldn't fab something up with pictures or diagrams of the original complete base plate.
