I've been using the Hopkins battery maintainer, #39332, for 10 years and never a dead battery. It's available from Amazon for $25.

Somebody prior to me had installed this switch on our 2014 CRV down on the left side of the dash that says Drive or Tow. You switch it to tow and it turns off all battery usage. I tried to attach a pic but I can’t figure it out so I don’t know if it will show it. We bought the car used and it was already installed so when our guy installed the tow package, I guess he hooked this up to work. I think it’s after market because Honda didn’t know anything about these switches. Also we towed a 2004 Honda Pilot before this and it didn’t have the switch.

Dash switch

2012 CRV. I installed a switch as RedBird has. I believe it's on fuse #19. Flip the switch and ckt is open and light on switch is off. Flip other way light on switch goes on and ckt is closed. I have a Ready Brake so no power draw on braking system. All toad rear lights are powered from MH. CRV has original battery so far so good. Longest I'v gone maybe 15 hrs driving, 3-4 nights all hooked up.

I was having a similar problem on our 2007 Honda CRV. I was blaming everything on stupidity...left the 12 V Cooler plugged in to the Accessory Socket, Key in wrong position ,Radio left on ...all valid issues.
Then shortly after replacing the Battery ,while on a run to the Store ,when Zi came out my car wouldn’t start! A fellow Customer had a set of jumper cables!
No joy.....we were 1000 + miles from home ,I was miles from where I had left the DW alone! What to do?

I hitched a ride to where we were parked At a Casino, pondered what to do while cursing my Luck. So I got in the Motorhome and headed back to Walmart , where the Honda sat in the lot. Managed to get some good Samaritans to help push the Car to the back of the Moho and hooked er up!

Headed back to the Casino, where a few other Boondockers were wondering what it was that we were doing.

One fellow wandered over to see why my Guy Magnet was up! Raised Hood!

Turns out He was pretty well versed in Honda CRV ‘S and their issues!

He said point blank Your Starter is Bad!

Turns out he was correct.

Isn't it interesting that the simplest solution to toad battery discharge problems is the hardest to convince people to implement.

Toad Charger

Yup - I installed charger. Getting ready for a 4 day drive. That should tell all.

This has worked for me on my Wrangler toad. Another step to the hitch up process but it works.

Toad. Battery

I tow Jeep Wrangler. Key off. Doors locked. Bypass battery completely for blue ox brake by plugging into separate battery that you can buy. Has compressor, jumper cable and light plus cigarette tip plug. Set it on floor on passenger side. Plug in at night to recharge on 110. Toad battery never used. Toad lights wired to RV while towing. Nice also to have compressor for bike tires etc. cost about $75 to purchase. Easy

We also tow 2007 CRV

We also tow a 2007 CRV. The owner's manual says to pull a certain fuse (for the radio). I got and installed the Fusemaster switch since the fuse was in a virtually inaccessible place. Unfortunately, that also powers the 'cigarette lighter' socket I need to power my Brake Buddy. So I leave that fuse (ie switch) on.
But I do make sure everything is off in the CRV. And I make sure the key is in the accessory position (i.e. dashboard lights and indicators are NOT on). Set up like this, I can drive about 2 days without needing to run the CRV.

After 2 days of driving / towing, I will either run the CRV or connect a battery charger (shore power at a CG or, if boondocking, an outlet energized by the generator for an hour.

I found that our CRV battery was too small so upgraded it to a Honda Odyssey battery -like what Honda started installing in 2015.
I also have charge line from the coach. No more problems.
You can stand on your head and un plug a fuse or use a fuse switch - commercially available but the new battery solved my problem. You should order a Odyssey battery plate - fits right in. I towed from BC to Palm springs with only starting my motor each morning.
