Dead battery every time on our Chevy Equinox

Each time we tow our 2021 Chevy Equinox Premier, the battery is dead. Spoke to Road Master, Chevrolet tech support and the Chevy dealer. None of them have any idea what the problem would be. We are just one of many in our RV Group with Equinoxs that have this problem. Any suggestions??

I have a 2021 Equinox toad and never had a battery issue, do you have a charge line from coach to Equinox?

I wonder if the Equnox, with LED lights, has the same issue as my Jeep Rubicon, with LED lights. That is, every time you hit the rv brakes, the Chevy computer wakes up, cycles through a bunch of stuff then shuts down until the next time brakes, signals are used and starts over again? Ended up putting a charge line in my Jeep to solve the problem.

When you have the car hooked up to the RV, are putting car in standby mode. With car in neutral and ready to tow, touch start/stop and do not have foot on brake. You should have a yellow light on start/stop and car should chime for 30-45 sec.

We tow a '21 Equinox and haven't had the problem although when I ran the charge line and ground I used 12 gauge wire instead of the 14 or 16 that came with the kit. I'd read somewhere that it couldn't keep up with the lighter wire due to the resistance.

Get rid of the Roadmaster "charger" and make sure you have 10 gauge wire run for the charge line and the ground. That will solve your issue. You could probably get by with 12 gauge but 10 will do it for sure.

The wires installed from the baseplate connector to the battery and car ground probably are undersized. Both the charge line AND the ground line should be 12 AWG. The ground line is the other half of the charge circuit.

Voltage doesn't mean squat, almost. Do you have a DC clamp-on ammeter?

My 2020 Equinox requires almost 8 amps just to keep the battery from discharging when configured for towing. That's far more than other cars, which is why heavier wires are needed.
