Demco Stay n Play Clicking Sound

We just installed a Demco Stay N Play on our 2020 Buick Envision and use the Roadmaster Nighthawk towbar. Towing is great. All systems seem to be working as they should. However, when driving the toad, the brake pedal makes an audible and loud click upon releasing the pedal after braking. Has anyone else had this experience? If so, is there a way to correct it and is it a sign that it was incorrectly installed? The system is switched off, FYI.

That system simply has a thin steel cable clamped to the firewall on one end and connected to the cylinder that's clamped to the brake pedal on the other end.

Start the car, get down under the dash, and look at it. Moving the brake pedal manually should produce the same sound so see what's doing it.

I’ve isolated the source of the noise. A threaded nut with a button which makes contact with the brake pedal arm seems to be hesitating returning to its nominal position then slamming forward in to the brake pedal arm making the load clack. It does not seem to be a critical issue but more of an aesthetic aggravation. I put a puece of velcro on the brake pedal arm to dampen the impact and it eliminated the clack. Meanwhile I’m going try to contort myself to take a closer look at this hesitation and see if I can figure out the root cause of the problem.
