Dinghy Towing

I own a Toyota Yaris automatic transmission. I went to local dealer to ask about installing a trans pump assy so I could tow 4 Down instad of loading on a dolly. I was told there would be No problem in towings 4 down and I would not have to add a trans pump. All I had to do was un lock steering and place trans in neutral. Does anyone do this?

Read your owner's manual very carefully before you spend a pile of money on this project. \

Agree with doc-- Check that the automatic can be towed. This chart shows only the manual can be flat towed...

Hi tomia3,
Yep, the previous posts provide the correct answer. The owner's manual is the only place the manufacturer is liable for what they tell the owner to do or not do.

Here's what the 2013 Motorhome magazine had to say. Manual trans yes , automatic trans no.

Since your thinking of adding a lube pump be advised that that is a $2500+ item installed. Is it really worth adding this to a Yaris??
