Dingy Tow Vehicle

Motorhome magazine tow dingy guide says a Chevy equinox chime will ring for 30 minuites while ignition accessor is on when towing. Is this true for 4 wheel drive and 2 wheel? Could I eliminate this with a charge line? Thanks

This is true for all late model units with key-less ignition no matter the drive line configuration . A charge line will have no effect on the chime.

Keyed ignition units do not have this problem.

You can eliminate with a battery disconnect switch!

So is the 30 minutes just a self battery preservation mode of the keyless system. It shuts off after 30 minutes??

We tow a 2020 Blazer and do not have this problem.

My 2019 Equinox does continue to chime, but a battery disconnect probably is a solution. I do have and need a charge line. In the accessory mode, there is a 7-8 amp load on the battery. I have a 20amp breaker on both ends of the line. Without the charge line, the Equinox’s battery will be dead even with starting the engine a couple times a day.
