Dingy Towing a 2017 Buick Envision

I’m looking to buy a used 2017 Buick AWD Envision to use for dingy towing. Manual says it can be dingy towed but it says to turn ignition on and place in neutral. But you have to start it to place in neutral.

Some people on this forum have said they have towed an Envision but just wanted to know if this is normal for placing an Envision in neutral or is there a problem with this particular Envision. It only has 17,000 miles so that’s why I’m interested in purchasing it for a tow vehicle. Thanks for any insights.

Yes, normal. Start it (if auto stop/start), put it on neutral and shut off. Then pull two fuses so the BCM does not drain the battery.
This is in the Owner's Manual under Dinghy Towing.

I installed a by-pass switch for the fuses, so it's real easy & quick to set to tow.
