Electric power for Patriot brakes if battery is disconnected

Hey guys...I just started researching supplemental brakes for my Chevy Colorado and I see from other posts that the battery needs to be disconnected during towing. So what are people doing to get power to the Patriot unit? Run it off the hot lead in the motorhome trailer connection?

I use a JNC 770 in our C-Max.

Also kind of nice having a jump start box along on trips.

Just wire in an auxiliary power point with direct connections to the battery. Don't forget to add a fuse. Your battery needs to be off to disable certain things like your power steering or certain transmission functions. Nothing says that you can't hook up a power point to the battery.

My toad also requires the battery disconnect. But I need power for the braking system, so I wired a 12 volt socket directly to the battery for that. I also wired the charge line from the tow vehicle to it, to keep the battery charged.
