Equinox fuse removal
I finally got my base plate installed and will be installing a charge line when I install the brake light harness. With some people experiencing wobble I am wondering about fuse removal. The latest GM procedure requires leaving fuse 32 in place and removing fuse 15 (ABS). I am curious as to why the ABS fuse needs to be removed. Does anyone tow a 4 cylinder Equinox and remove no fuses?

The reason the ABS fuse is removed is to cut power to the electric power steering motor. This will stop the electric steering from always trying to correct it's position during cornering thus causing steering oscillation.

Everything I read says fuse 16 (ABS)? I've only pulled about 2,000 miles pulling fuse #16 with no issues. Only issue is you need a large charge circuit to keep the battery up!

I did it myself. It took moderate skill level, lots of tools (mainly ways to trim the frame), plenty of patience, and about 5 1/2 hours. Not sure if I would do it again. It was the Blue ox base plate and the video on etrailer was fairly accurate but not 100%. having a lift and a helper would have made it much easier. BG rv repair just built a new shop here in Cabot and quoted me approx 4 hours at $120.00 per hour. They say they can do the wiring harness in 2 hours but I am going to do that myself tomorrow.

You are correct. 2010 was fuse 15 2011-2017 is 16
What gauge wire are you running for your charge circuit ?

Toad battery kept going dead using wires in 7pin plug. Equinox draws 4.5 amps. just being turned on. I'm assuming the electric power steering draws more once you start towing. (Never managed to measure it)
I took a set of cheep jumper cables and put plugs on the ends. Went all the way to starter on DP for power. It maybe over kill but no more dead battery!

A 10 gauge wire should handle 20 amps over 15' so overkill maybe an understatement lol.

You can make a fuse disconnect with a couple male elect spare connectors ,some wire a fuse holder and a small lighted switch then just switch it off when towing

I looked today and they want $65.00 for a $3.00 harness . I will be making my own disconnect for sure.

I have made 2 you just have to grind the spaded down to fit fuse holder in the vehicle power out thru new fuse holder power thru new switch power back to vehicle fuse holder, I used the button switch with an led light.

Yeah...pulling that #16 was a PIA for sure. I'm going to make a disconnect as well, along with the charge line. I didn't have any issues as far as the "wobble" pulling #16 vs #32 on a '16 equinox.
