Yeah I understand that. . .ball placement is was not what was really concerning me. I was/am more worried about grounding the drop mount and putting upward pressure on the hitch / frame etc. . .etc . . .

Anyway I ordered my GEN-Y 10" drop ball mount on amazon a hour or so ago. . .hope all goes well. I've got enough problems just trying to get my 2013 Chevy Volt onto the EZE tow dolly without it bottoming out on the forward tire stop.

Thanks for all the advice.

Were you still using the 12" adjustible drop ball mount, after re-doing your hitch below the frame rails? Sounds like you have several inches of extra drop on the ball mount dangeling below the actual ball location now.

If so then your example is an even better indication of whether or not I may have issues, as with your relocation work and the 12" drop. . .that would be hanging lower than I would be. . .and given that your RV is longer. . .you in theory. . .should have more risk of bottoming out than me.

If you have never had a bottom out issue. . .then I shouldn't be worried either. . .I'm guessing.

-J
I also forgot to add the fact that my adj drop is also one that has 2 sizes of balls, so the bigger one that I am not using is hanging down also.

Suggestion...There is no reason to put the tires up to the the dolly's tire stop.

The car's tire should be generally centered between the front and rear strap mount points.
If you load the car up against to the tire stops and then strap-down, the tires will naturally drift backward while your drive - self-centering in the middle (front to rear) of the frame.

This sometimes causes the straps to appear to loosen...but it is only a function of the tires centering within the straps.

Best luck
