Question First time to tow JL jeep --Need advice

We have our first motorhome and a new JL Jeep. What towing systems options are people using with the new JL. The dealer wants to use Blue OX with avail tow bar and baseplates and a STEALTH braking system. However he says the blue ox baseplates are still in design for the JL Jeep.
What are you using for JL Jeeps and anybody know if Blue OX has new baseplate. and is the stealth braking system good?

I'd probably go with an aftermarket front bumper and a NSA Ready Brute towbar/brake system.

X2 on the NSA Ready Brute Elite system. Very happy with ours. We have a JK with Blue Ox baseplate, using NSA towbar and breakaway system.

I went with a Roadmaster base plate, tow bar and their Even Brake system. First tow will be this weekend.

Sorry I can't help with JL but for JK I was able to save money replacing my front bumper with a Tomken bumper which has the blue ox connection point welded in place, instead of using Blue-Ox Base Plates on my JK. Tomken may have the bumper for the JL.

Having the Tomken bumper shipped directly to the install shop instead of my home saved another $110.

Over 2000 miles now with my extreme terrain bumper, roadmaster diode kit, and roadmaster night hawk tow bar.

First time to tow JL jeep --Need advice

Just yesterday I completed the installation of the Blue Ox baseplate on my JL Rubicon. Took me just about 4 hours.

If you’re going with Blue Ox, you may want to insure that you’re getting the latest design. They did an upgrade about a month ago.

Next week I’ll be adding the AF1 braking system. Click image for larger version

Man that base plate looks SERIOUSLY low! You plan on doing any off roading in your new Rubi?

I tow a 2017 Wrangler Rubicon with the Blue Ox baseplate. We also use Blue Ox 10k lbs tow bar, along with SMI Air Force 1 braking system. Have about 4K mikes without any problems. The 10 k lbs tow bar is overkill for the Jeep, but will work nicely on our Yukon if we ever decide to tow it.

I would recommend the Blue Ox products.

Scott, Your seeing the baseplate without the bumper and the picture may not be telling the whole story. The lowest point is 15 1/2” and if that baseplate gets hit, there’s a lot of expense Rubicon parts that are lower and would probably get destroyed. It’s not as low as it looks.

Not planning on doing the steps at Moab but it’ll handle the rest.

Since the Rubicon already has a 2” lift and 33” tires I would be more concerned with the other models.

JL has the hybrid electric steering. Needs wiring harness from Jeep installed to keep power applied to the steering system.

Roger that, thanks for getting back to me. We've done about 99.99% of Moab and, yep, there's some "gotcha" points in much of it for sure. And I've had my share of bang-m-up situations.
