Pictures

Below are some pictures that have made this process so perplexing. The first is how the cable looks disengaged, the second one is engaged. In the first picture it looks like the cable should pass through the small slot and the metal tube would sit below in the larger opening. But in the second picture the metal tube sits on top of the opening. The transmission is disengaged now. It looks very untrustworthy and if it weren’t for the forum verifying this is correct, I wouldn’t have believed it.

I had the same mistrust of this system when we first got our 2020 Edge ST.

I have had other tow vehicles and did not like the process to pull the Edge. It seemed flakey and I thought it would come out.

30,000 towed miles later we almost trust it. Still do not prefer it.
We go by the feel of it. When the strap is locked in and transmission disengaged you should really have to pull out and a little over away from the corner to release it.
