Flat towable vehicles

We have a motorhome and have a 1999 Subaru Legacy wagon with 5-sd. manual
Can we flat tow it and do we have to stop and run the engine every 400 or 500 miles or stay under 55 MPH?

try viewing the Remco website (Remco : The Towing Experts). It may give you info on the "Tow my Vehicle" section.

You really need to read the owner's manual. It should give very specific information on towing. Being that it is a manual transmission, I would suspect it should be an easy tow without much in the way of restrictions. But only your manual will tell you that for a fact or not.

EDIT: I looked for an online owner manual on Subaru and couldn't seem to find one. I then found this owner manual. I could not find any reference to towing behind a MH or flat towing. Page 8-13 talks about towing with all 4 wheels down but only in an emergency. 8-14 clearly says it is a NO-NO to tow with front wheels up as would be the case with a dolly. Remco has no info on your model. BLUE OX does make a base plate.

I suppose the good news is that you are well out of warrantee. The bad news is that my quick look at what i could find is not proof it can be towed without damage. That being said, perhaps someone else can provide proof it can be towed without a hassle.

I have read lots online that says that manual trans Subarus can be towed but auto trans cannot. Why don't you call Subaru America and ask them?
