Flat towing 2016/15 two wheel drive GMC Canyon

I am in the process of setting up my 2016 GMC Cannon to flat tow behind my motor home by a drive shaft with disconnect. anyone that has experience in flat towing the 2WD cannon/Colorado please provide feedback if you have had any problems. Also have a question about using a battery charge wire to keep the battery charged to operate the elec. power assist steering in lieu of having to disconnect the negative battery cable as stated in the owners manual

I have the 4 wheel drive model so I can't speak to the drive shaft disconnect. However, I had a charge line installed and use a battery cutoff switch so I am not disconnecting and re-connecting the battery each time. It worked quite well on my trip down to Florida.
