Installed the blue ox baseplate in my 2021 buick encore gx awd. I put it in service mode to get it in neutral, leave it in default 2wd and a switch under the hood to disable the battery. I have toad it for almost 3000 miles this summer with no major problems. Minor probs are: have to reset driver's window each time I reactivate the battery, also have to reset the clock.
Love the car and it makes a great toad. It rides as nice as my Mercedes glk that I can't flat tow.

Have done both ways - just depends on the amount of pitch of the ground
On flat ground I normally have the engine off and put it in neutral.

I installed the roadmaster battery disconect selenoid, Rvi battery charger, Rvi brake and went the easy route for the tailights and got the wireless Helios tow lights from Towmate.
Set-up is a breeze, this is my 4th toad and it's the best one so far

Roof Rack Cross Bars
The OEM have been out of stock for months and with no idea when they will be available. I rolled the dice on an after market set for 160.
So anyone looking for a set - I can confirm these do fit.
Roof Rack Cross Bars Compatible with Buick Envision 2016 - 2020 and 2020 2021 Encore GX

How important is it to disconnect the battery?
What is the purpose of disconnecting the battery? Is it primarily to stop the chiming? The reason I ask is because I have a charging line from the RV which is connected to the positive terminal of the battery. The negative (ground for trailer lights) from the RV is connected to the vehicle chassis per the diode installation instructions. As a result, some of the electronics still come on in the car since they are getting power from the RV.
Since they are getting power anyway is seems like there isn't much benefit from disconnecting the battery. It only prevents the RV from charging my battery while towing.
By the way, I have a 12v outlet wired to the same power and ground that I use to power my RVibrake.

(........... As a result, some of the electronics still come on in the car since they are getting power from the RV.)
Follow the instructions that came with your GX. If some of the electronics come on ?, hopefully not the GX electric brakes nor switch from AWD to FWD, etc., you will regret.
Disconnect the negative cable from its battery terminal on the GX (cover termnial with a proper cap) & use the umbilical cord from RV for whatever else you need.

I was already disconnecting the negative battery cable. However, as I said, the ground coming from the RV is connected to the vehicle chassis so electricity was still getting to the car's electrical system.
I decided the best way around this was to disconnect the positive side of the battery as well. It turns of Great American RV miswired my lights, bypassing the diodes completely, so the brake lights were still injecting power into the car's electrical system even with both battery terminals disconnected! The wipers were switched on in the car and with the hazard lights on in the RV the wipers would move about an inch every time they flashed. I'm sure that's terrible for the electronics.
Anyway, I have it all worked out. I installed a solenoid to disconnect the positive terminal on the battery. This way I still get the benefit of the charging line from the RV without any power going to the car's electronics. I also fixed the tail light wiring and will never trust GARV again.
