Flat towing

Hello I have a kar bar towing system that i know nothing about, the former owner gave it to me , my question is this tow bar a good one or is it outdated? It seems to be pretty heavy,are all tow bars heavy?

I was in a similar situation. I was given a v shaped old style tow bar. I'm sure it is harder to hook up than the new ones on the market, but so far it has served me well. I tow a jeep with mine. I will probably get a blue ox in the future but not a priority at this point for me.
