Flat Towing a 2020 Chevy Equinox Premier 2.0 L

Does anybody currently flat tow a 2020 Chevy Equinox 2.0L and does it change the odometer reading ? Also, is there any special work around to prevent the toad's battery from discharging? Any other lessons learned would be appreciated also.
Thank you in advance,
Dave

We tow a 2019 Equinox, it doesn’t record miles. It charms or alarms for 30 minutes when towing. I ran a charging line. Roadmaster sells charging kit which was an easy install. Overall a good tow vehicle.

We tow a 2020 Equinox Redline Edition. No issues and tows well. As 'Darwin' stated you'll need a charge line for the battery. Ensure you follow the towing directions in the operator manual and should have no problems.

I installed a Roadmaster base plate and a direct-connect tail, brake and turn signal harness myself - wasn't to bad of a job. We use an RVi braking system.

Hope this helps

We have a 2020 equinox that we flat tow. It works fine just follow the manual. That said I did have issues with the battery discharging,my fault I left something on in the car. We stop every2-3 hour on the road and I run the toad to make sure the battery is charged and to make sure transmission is lubricated.

Hi - we are looking at getting an equinox as a toad. What is the drop hitch distance you use . Or even better what is the distance between the base plate & the ground . Thanks

We now tow a 2019 Turbo Diesel Equinox with no issues. I installed the LSL Toad Charging kit and after seven hours of towing it starts right up.

I have a 2020 Equinox Premier 2.0L with the Demco baseplate. I'm sitting on dirt right now but the center of the hole where the adapter inserts is 14" off the ground. A friend with a 2019 installed the Roadmaster baseplate and his was almost 1" higher.

He uses a 4" drop hitch but what you'll need really depends on how high your motorhome hitch is. I also use a 4" but I could have gone with a 6" and been OK because my baseplate sits lower than the Roadmaster.

Yeah, not much help, is this?

This is one of the cars we are considering.
I have a ReadyBrute towbar and don't need to plug in any type of braking system. Would I still need a charge line?

Absolutely yes. The Equinox, when configured for towing per the Owner's Manual, pulls almost 8 amps (not a typo) out of the battery, far more than other vehicles for some reason.

The charge line and the ground line should both be 12 AWG (12 gauge) to assure the charge line has adequate capacity.

If you do not use a charge line your car's battery will likely be dead in two or three hours.

Wow, thanks. Is this because the ignition in in ACC? Just curious as I haven't looked up the owners manual yet.

It's push button start and the sequence puts it in Service mode or something like that.

Engine running, car in Neutral, foot OFF the brake, and tap the button to kill the engine.

WE also towed a 2020 Equinox put about 8500 mi on. The car towed great but if you do not have a charging circuit the battery will go dead. it happened to me several times. I rest stop every 3 hours when traveling and start the equinox and let it charge. I also purchased a long jumper cable so I could jump it if needed from the coach batteries.

As part of GM's redesign beginning with the 2018 Equinox, no fuses need pulled anymore.
