Flat towing equipment - surge or electric supplemental brake system

Allegro Open Road 34TGA. 24K chassis Ford F-53. Triton V-10. Looking to tow our Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Edition. Approximately 4900 lbs. curb weight.

I have the Blue Ox Aventa II Class IV tow bar. I know I'll have to set-up my toad with the correct base plate.

Really appreciate input as to which brake system I should go with, surge or electric.

This originally was a SMI product but Demco bought them out. I have the air brake version and I have not had any problems for the 6 years I have been towing with it.
Good folks for base plate: https://www.etrailer.com/base-plates...0-%20Blue%20Ox
