Flat towing question

I am purchasing a new 2019 Ford Flex FWD. Can anyone tell me if the odometer accumulates mileage as you flat tow on the 19 Flex? It does have navigation and someone told me because of that it may accumulate mileage.

Only another Flex toad person can guarantee an answer, however, MOST IF NOT ALL toads do NOT accumulate mileage when being towed.

YMMV.

Find a nice hill. Get up to speed, kick it into neutral, shut off ignition. Note odometer reading top and bottom to see if any mileage accumulated. Not rocket science.

My F150 has navigation and it does not accumulate mileage, so that comment is blatantly false.

As a rule, if you can turn the ignition off when towing, your odometer isn't going to go up. If the Flex's flat-tow procedure is like my F150's, it's possible to enable neutral tow but leave full accessory power on. This won't ruin your drivetrain, but it will drain your battery... and it might also leave your odometer running.

Then you are probably towing with the ignition in the ON position instead of the ACC position recommended in the owner manual.

I have a 2017 Flex AWD. Mileage does not accumulate when towing.
Check the owners manual for recreational towing procedure and to confirm your engine/drivetrain is flat towable. Good luck.

That approach sounds like it could go sideways in a hurry. No power brakes, no power steering LOL.

The car either does or doesn't accumulate mileage. You either know how many miles are one your tires or miles until next oil change. Tow it and find out.

Hmmm. Well. Even it if the odometer does accumulate miles would that makes it any less a desirable vehicle to have based on all the other merits of the vehicle?
And, if the odometer does not record the mileage during being towed, it doesn't negate the fact that the chassis, suspension, tires, brakes, and even transmission are being subjected to almost the same wear and tear as if you were driving it those miles.
So, don't worry about it so much and find something else to stress over. This is RV'ng. It's supposed to be fun.

My Lincoln doesn't accumulate mileage, use neutral tow and don't have to leave ignition on at all. However, my actual reason for posting is about tire rotation on Toad. I had new tires put on at a local shop and asked the guy about rotation. He said to keep track of towing miles to add to your miles on the toad and rotate at specified miles regardless of actual odometer reading. This will keep the most even wear on tires for max life.
