We had regular ford cars for police cars. We had a spell of frigid weather. My cruiser would not start at this temp. Doing 12 hour shifts. The car would idle at my home for 12 hours between shifts. No problems. Late 80’s ford.

Mine says the same thing. Does the OP already own the “proposed toad”? If not I’d suggest he look for a different one.

I was looking at maybe flat towing my Camry with the engine idling. To monitor the engine I was going to use one of these wireless relay things wired to an oil pressure sensor in the Camry. Wire it fail safe so the transmitter only transmitted when it had oil pressure.. The light in my MH would be wired so if it didn't receive a signal the warning light would light..

I would think a wireless video camera pointed at the dash of the toad would also spot other issues....not just oil pressure. This way you could see if it was overheating, or if the check engine light came on, if the alternator failed, etc.

Or, trade it in for a flat towable toad, simple.

If only for a relatively short trip I wouldn't. You are setting yourself up for a big tranny repair bill.

It could be possible to use an OBD2 reader with bluetooth or wireless to send the toads real-time engine diagnostics to your phone, PC or tablet. You might need a bluetooth or wireless extender to get to the front of the coach. Using an app like Torque will show you all of the ECU information. You would at least know that the vehicle is still running.

By the way, thank-you for your service.
