I saw a statement from an Escape owner that said Ford offered to give him the Remco lube pump for his 2012 Escape but would charge him $800 to install it.

I know this thread is getting old, but I thought I'd share my experience. I have a 2012 Fiesta that I set up to tow behind my Winnebago View. I have towed it almost 500 miles now on 3 separate trips. It has performed perfectly. One entry in this thread mentioned that the transmission was trashed after only an hour on the road. I can't see how the tranny could slip into gear so long as the battery is disconnected. That is a requirement for towing the Fiesta. It's simple to set up for towing, after connecting to the RV, turn the key to on, put gear shift into neutral, the message center tells you the transmission is ready. Turn off the key, it will remain in the switch, then disconnect the battery. Done. Any comments?

The trans burns up because the wheels are turning which turns parts inside the trans but they get no lubrication without the engine running. The engine spins the torque convertor which drives the pump.

I would also like confirmation on towing the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The dingy guide says the Ford Fusion Hybrid with CVT transmission IS Flat Towable with No exceptions. The FORD 2013 wrecker towing manual states no exceptions. Can anyone state that the FORD fusion is FALT towable before we spend the money on a base plate?

Thank you so much. My manual agreed and was on page 207.
Sounds like I am good to go with the proper blue ox baseplate. Do you use any aux braking system? Is your rig a V10 or DP?

? The ford fiesta does not have a torque converter. Here is direct from Ford. http://media.ford.com/article_displa...ticle_id=34218

Bill- Ford replaced one transmission on a trip to the DC, And the second we were coming home from the Smokies and over nighted in Birmingham AL got a pull thru and did not disconnect or use the our 2012 Fiesta - just as we were approaching I-20 the transmission went into gear and not only got the transmission but the engine also. Transmission $6700.00 ea the engine was $7200.00. I spoke with the Ford engineers and was told they were about to release a software for the transmission that would correct the problem. I pulled our Fiesta a little over 8,000 miles the first time the care did not have 1000 miles on it. Now have a Edge.
