Hi Twinboat.. I was able to place a no risk order through my local Ford dealer in the Indianapolis area. I used the Ford website and was assigned a contact at my local dealer. It’s been 4 weeks with no update yet.

According to the Ford Towing Guide (page 15), the Hybrid Maverick is the only one that can be flat-towed. https://www.fleet.ford.com/content/d...owingGuide.pdf

It may be questionable to even order a FWD 2022 hybrid Maverick if not impossible to do now ...and according to Motor Trend, they expect orders for the 2023 model to start next summer:

Shipping Has Started But Reservations Full for 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid

There is a dealer in Kansas very in depth knowledge of the Maverick, how to order and availability may be worth a look.

[Mod Edit]

I was offered a full setup if I were willing to drop off my hybrid for a mock up. As my hybrid is on order, I couldn't accept the offer. This was thru a retailer who was communicating with Blue Ox.

My Maverick hybrid is scheduled to begin the prototype process for Roadmaster’s baseplate engineering on 1/31 and completed on 2/4.
Approximately 8 weeks after that the baseplate should become commercially available, though it may be longer. Only the hybrid is flat towable, and the hybrid is only FWD. Bad news is that as of 11/15 orders are full for the 2022 hybrid model. Good news, orders that the customer decided not accept will be sold by that dealer, keep in mind this is a limited number.

Just got this response from blueOx
Not promising and my plans to buy a maverick are on hold

“We are working with a customer to bring in a 2022 Maverick to do the initial fit. There is some question as to whether or not the frame of the Maverick will be capable of having a base plate attached to it to safely flat tow the vehicle. Here is our official response from our fit team: We are working with a customer to do a fit in the next few weeks. We are hoping to be able to design a baseplate but due to available frame attachment points we are not sure we will be able to come up with a baseplate that will meet our FEA safety testing.

Hopefully we will no more in the next few months depending on when we can get a customer’s vehicle in here to take a look at.”

Not sure why I can't populate the screenshot vs an attachment. Production release possibly April according to FB group. Edit: fixed post!

Interesting update from Blue Ox.. Apparently Roadmaster doesn’t share the same concern as they’ve already built a baseplate for an xlt.

My truck was the second of two prototypes used by Roadmaster to develop a baseplate. The first truck was to develop the baseplate, mine was used to ensure fit. Roadmaster will have an available baseplate by March 18. While Blue Ox may say they are not sure, I think that is because they have not seen one in the shop. The hybrid Maverick is based on the same chassis as the hybrid Escape which Blue Ox does sell a baseplate for.

Ford stop taking orders for the 2022 hybrid on Nov 15. Dealers have some available, but only if someone who orders backs out.

Had found a few available but not my color or my price.

I want the under $25000 one not the jacked up $35000 one.

I'll stick with the Ridgeline on my dolly for now.
