It,s not a real truck. Bet it has one of those new trannies that prohibit towing. Sure looks sexy.

I've been reading every article that I can find about the new Ranger. I've yet to see anyone confirm if it can be flat towed. Every website seems to say that the transmission is the same one used in several other Ford vehicles. That could be good or bad for flat towing. Hopefully, they give the same option for flat towing as the F150 4WD.

With that said... I feel that the prices are too high. There will be very little to no incentives for quite a while. If I use the build configurator, the one that I want is actually a little more expensive than the F150 4WD that I have been looking at for quite some time. They also used very little aluminum on the Ranger. So the weight difference will probably not be that much of a difference.

I've been a long time fan of Ford trucks...owned 7 over the years, including a 4 x 4 Ranger.

IMO, unless you just want a smaller, downsized truck, the Ranger doesn't make a lot of sense. You can just do so much more with the full sized truck and, as noted, the cost difference will be nil.

The new Ranger does look cool and I am sure it will appeal to a lot of buyers, especially young buyers.

I was trying to wait for the Ranger but I had to make a purchase this summer so went with the Chevy Colorado. There is some aluminum in the new Ranger but only hood and tailgate. Not sure where the weight will come in, but I have seen some indications that it will use a transfer case with neutral so transmission is irrelevant. My Colorado is towed in Park because the transfer case is in neutral.

I saw them overseas and thought they were too big for a mid-sized truck. Not enough visual size difference between the F150 and the Ranger

Before I decided I looking at the Ranger and the new Jeep Truck but haven't seen the specs on the size of the beds. I want to be able to put my Cricket Golf Cart in the bed. It currently fits in the back of my 4 door Wrangler

Don’t think that information is available yet, however I have read that a 4wd transfer case is used so that indicates a higher likelihood that it can.

I saw a picture of the transfer case switch. It doesn't show a neutral position but maybe there is a way to get into neutral. I see it has a 10 speed transmission.

Vettenuts. What other kind of transfer case would be used??? They are all 4x4 but some are electronic without a neutral position.

My Escape doesn’t have a switch or way to get it into neutral.

My Colorado doesn’t have a neutral position, but there is a light that comes on in neutral when the correct procedure is followed. It is similar to what was noted earlier in this thread for the F150.

My Silverado is just like your Colorado. My question is: Does this new Ranger either have a neutral position or a method to get the transfer case into neutral.
